A family of users sharing the same pool of resources and having similar policies constitutes a Virtual Organization. IGI supports both national and global Virtual Organizations. A Virtual Organization (VO) is managed by one or more VO managers, who are responsible of managing VO membership and updating VO Identity Cards.

• VO Id Cards. Identity cards define the characteristics and properties of a VO. Chek VO Id cards of existing groups of users on the EGI Operations Portal,  which also lists all VOs enabled in the pan-European grid infrastructure, and the respective discipline clusters.

• IGI/EGI Scientific disciplines. The main scientific disciplines supported by IGI and EGI are Computer Science and Mathematics, Multidisciplinary VOs, Astronomy Astrophysics and Astro-particle Physics, Life Sciences, Computational Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Fusion, High-Energy Physics, and Infrastructure. The CIC Portal provides information on the overall list of disciplines, and the respective user distribution.
